We are "fee-only", so this fee table is the only way we are paid. Being fee-only allows us to be free from the conflicts associated with “fee-based” or commission-based transactions inherent in the industry.
Our pricing is unique, designed around how life really works. When you are a new investor, the pricing is on par with the average price of a mobile phone or cable bill. Just like mobile and cable, we accept Visa and Mastercard.
As your portfolio grows, your portfolio eventually can be used to pay its own fee. And, once you get to a certain level, our way of congratulating you is to cap the fee. You pay a flat fee regardless of what your balance is.
Other Fees
Custodian Fee(s)
To ensure a system of checks and balances, we use an independent custodian to hold your assets.
The custodian provides a menu of "a la carte" services, usually incurred when doing things like wiring money or rebalancing a portfolio. Each of these services usually incurs a modest fee. Since we are fee-only, we do not accept payment (commissions) for these -- instead, clients pay them directly from the cash position in their portfolio.
We estimate in a year’s time a typical client will pay about 0.07% per year in custodial fees.
Mutual Fund Fee
Nearly all mutual funds and ETFs charge some kind of fee to manage their funds. Clients pay these fees indirectly because they are deducted prior to reporting results.
We use passively managed, no-load index funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) whenever possible. Passive fund fees are generally lower than those of their active counterparts.
We estimate our typical client pays about 0.42% per year in fund fees.
